Privacy Policy

Your walk with God is sacred — and so is your privacy. This page explains what information Christian Journey handles, and what we deliberately do not touch.

The short version

  • We don't collect your personal data. No profiles, no accounts, no identifiers.
  • We don't store your data on our servers. Everything you enter into the app — prayers, preferences, settings, faith tracking, service logs — lives on your device.
  • We don't share, sell, or rent your data. Not to advertisers, data brokers, analytics firms — not to anyone.
  • We don't track you. No analytics SDKs, no behavioral tracking, no fingerprinting, no ads.
  • The only thing the app asks for is a name — or a label you choose. You can call yourself “Me,” “Pilgrim,” or anything else. It's used only to greet you, and it never leaves your device.

What the app stores on your device

Christian Journey is a local-only app. The following stays entirely on your device, in storage managed by iOS or Android:

  • The name or label you choose.
  • Your preferences and settings (reminder times, themes, etc.).
  • Your prayer entries, reflections, and notes.
  • Your faith tracking history and streaks.
  • Your service logs.
  • Bookmarks and saved scriptures.

We have no server that receives or mirrors any of this. When you uninstall the app, this data is deleted with it. We cannot recover it for you, because we never had a copy.

What we do not collect

We want to be explicit about this:

  • We do not require an email address, phone number, or account to use the app.
  • We do not use analytics tools such as Google Analytics, Firebase Analytics, Amplitude, Mixpanel, or similar.
  • We do not integrate advertising networks or third-party ad SDKs.
  • We do not fingerprint your device or attempt to identify you across devices.
  • We do not collect your location, contacts, photos, or any device identifiers.
  • We do not sell or monetize your data in any way.

Device permissions

The app may ask for the following permissions. All are opt-in, and you can revoke them in your device settings at any time without losing access to the app:

  • Notifications — used for prayer reminders you choose to schedule. Reminders are generated locally on your device; nothing is sent from a server.

Third-party services

The app itself does not integrate third-party services that receive your data.

The operating system (Apple iOS or Google Android) may collect aggregated, anonymous technical information — crash reports, installation metrics — governed by Apple's and Google's own privacy policies:

These flows are controlled by the operating system, not by us.

In-app purchases

The app offers optional in-app purchases. These are processed entirely by Apple (App Store) or Google (Google Play). We never see or store your payment information, billing address, or purchase history. Your transaction is governed by Apple's or Google's respective privacy policies and terms.

Website newsletter (optional)

This website offers an optional email signup for a weekly devotional. This is separate from the app. If you choose to subscribe:

  • Your email address is sent to Loops, our email service provider, and stored solely for delivering the devotional.
  • You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in any email we send.
  • We don't use your email for anything other than the weekly devotional.
  • Loops' privacy practices are available at loops.so/privacy.

Using the website without signing up for the newsletter requires no data from you.

Children's privacy

Christian Journey is designed for general audiences, including families. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 (or the equivalent age in your jurisdiction), because we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone. If you believe a child has somehow provided personal information to us, please contact us at hello@christianjourney.app and we will investigate.

Your rights

Because we don't collect or store your personal data:

  • You own everything on your device. Delete the app to delete the data. There is no server-side copy to remove.
  • Newsletter subscribers can unsubscribe anytime via the link in any email, or by emailing us.
  • GDPR, UK GDPR, CCPA, and similar data-protection rights — residents of the European Union, United Kingdom, California, and other jurisdictions have rights to access, correct, or delete personal data we hold about them. Since the only data we hold is a newsletter email (if you chose to subscribe), any such request amounts to removing your email from the list. Contact us to exercise these rights.

Data security

Data stored on your device is protected by your device's own security measures — passcode, biometrics, and OS-level encryption. We recommend keeping your operating system up to date. For the newsletter, Loops uses industry-standard security practices.

Changes to this policy

If we update this policy, we will change the “Last updated” date above and, for material changes, note it prominently in the app or on this website. Your continued use after changes take effect constitutes acceptance.
